SUMMARY:Bayfield Hall Sculpture Trail
DESCRIPTION:Set against the timeless backdrop of the Glaven Valley in North Norfolk\, the 5th annual Bayfield Hall Sculpture Trail returns from 16th September to 18th October 2026. This year\, the trail invites visitors to journey through the evocative theme of “Ritual”\, exploring the universal human impulse to create meaning through repetition\, gesture\, and connection to the natural world. \n \nIn an era of rapid change and digital noise\, the 2026 theme of ‘Ritual@  seeks to ground us in the physical and the spiritual. Curated by Sarah Cannell and produced by Creative Odyssey CIC\, the exhibition features over 45 contemporary artists from across the UK. Their works delve into rituals of celebration\, remembrance\, and renewal. Artists have been encouraged to respond not only to the concept of ritual but to the specific “spirit of place” at Bayfield. You will find installations that honour the rhythms of the seasons\, the cycles of decay and growth\, and the quiet\, daily routines of the flora and fauna that inhabit these three acres of private grounds. \nThe Experience\nThe trail offers a unique opportunity to explore parts of the Bayfield Hall estate usually closed to the public. The circular walk takes you through: \n\n\nThe Wildflower Gardens: Where delicate\, site-specific works interact with the vibrant late-summer blooms. \n\n\nAncient Woodland: Sheltering larger-scale sculptures that play with light and shadow amongst the trees. \n\n\nThe Ruined Chapel: Perhaps the most poignant site for the theme of “Ritual\,” where the remains of the family chapel provide a sacred architecture for reflective art. \n\n\nThe River Glaven: The trail overlooks this rare chalk stream\, offering a sense of tranquillity that complements the meditative nature of the artworks. \n\n\nThe experience concludes at the Old Stables\, which houses a dedicated Pop-Up Gallery featuring smaller 3D works and sketches by the trail artists\, alongside the permanent Decorative Antiques and Interiors shops. \n\n \nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQ)\n\nWhen is the trail open? \nThe trail runs from Wednesday\, 16th September to Sunday\, 18th October 2026.
