SUMMARY:Hunstanton Soap Box Derby 2025
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday 21 September the popular Soap box derby returns to the streets of Hunstanton in Norfolk.  In 2024 around 50 home-built karts took part with  karts with karts racing down the streets of Hunstanton on  the first weekend of the Easter school holiday and marked 70 years since the first Soap Box Derby was held in Hunstanton in 1953. \nEntries have now opened for Hunstanton’s Soap Box Derby and are limited to just 60 teams. It’s a day packed with family entertainment\, a carnival atmosphere and the chance to watch racing through the streets of Hunstanton. This is going to be an Easter ‘eggstravaganza’ with more karts than ever and associated activities taking place in the town supporting the event. \n \nOften described as Hunstanton’s very own whacky races will return on the 21st  September 2025. The event is organised by the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk. Construct your hand-built karts and come and join in the fun\, racing down Hunstanton’s hilly streets\, thrilling the large crowds in attendance. Teams are encouraged from everywhere and everyone – families\, businesses\, organisations; all of the community. \nKey information\n\nVenue: The Green\, Hunstanton PE36 6BL\nDate: Sunday 21st September 2025\nRacing time: Approximately 11am to 5pm\nEntry fee: Senior £25\, Junior £20\n\nThe course is fast and exciting with challenges to overcome (ramp\, chicane and tight corners). Starting by the High Street on Greevegate\, it zooms down past the Green and finishes in Beach Terrace Road by the Bandstand. \nThe course and its start and finish is controlled on the day by King’s Lynn & District Motor Club. \n \nFor spectators there will be music and entertainment on the Green\, all contributing to a great carnival atmosphere for all the family! There are plenty of outlets nearby the Green and the course to purchase food and refreshments. \nRace categories\nChoose which category to enter from the four below (note the change of senior ages this year): \nJunior\nUnder 13 (10-12 year olds)\nUnder 16 (13-15 year olds)\nSenior\nAdult (16-49 year olds)\nVeterans (50+)\nNB. All above ages are as on race day. \nPrizes\nThere will be prizes for teams finishing first\, second and third in each category and a trophy for the overall winner. There will also be a ‘Concours d’elegance’ award for the best-looking kart. \nEntry fees\nSenior £25\nJunior £20\nProvisional race timings\nIf you’re racing\, registration will begin from 9.30am. Scrutineering will take place in the pits on the Upper Green with officials checking all karts for conformity to event rules. \nTeams\nTeams may consist of up to 4 members in total (including driver or drivers). Karts may accommodate one or two drivers (no more). Team members not driving will push off the kart at the start. \nSafety\nThis is an event with some dangers so drivers and team members must consider these. Drivers MUST wear a helmet and the organisers strongly recommend that this is a full face helmet. Organisers also strongly recommend drivers to wear a gum shield and that legs and arms are fully dressed (ie. no bare legs or arms). \nPresentations\nThe day will conclude with a presentation ceremony once racing has ended and the results have been established. \nEvent rules\nAll entrants must read and agree to the event rules and kart specifications. Expect the sights\, sounds and style of the ’40s in the town of Holt. \nOn Friday 19\, Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st 2025 this part of North Norfolk head back in time with a with lots of events ranging from military vehicle parades to pigeon racing. \n \nThe weekend celebrates the wartime efforts of allied forces and the resilience shown by people who dealt with the hardships on the home front. The 2024 event  was hailed as the ‘biggest and best yet’\, after an estimated 20\,000 people turned out to Sheringham and Holt to take part. \n \nFirst held 24 years ago as a one-off event\, the 1940s weekend has since grown beyond all expectation\, attracting people from all over the country and spreading its wings to include local pubs\, clubs\, shops and churches. \nThose taking part are ferried between the two towns by vintage buses and the railway’s steam and diesel trains\, with the Poppy Line also laying on a host of attractions at its three north Norfolk stations.

DESCRIPTION:Bayfield Hall is a Grade II* listed building which stands in a small estate close to the village of Letheringsett. The Sculpture Trail features works by 45 artists from across the UK set in the beautiful private gardens of the Hall. \n \nThe Third Bayfield Hall Sculpture Trail features 40 artists\, sculptors\, musicians and makers in the beautiful gardens and grounds of Bayfield Hall near Holt. The trail is curated by Sarah Cannell with kind permission to use the private gardens and chapel by Caroline and Roger Combe. An uplifting\, inspiring natural space for people to experience contemporary art in a beautiful rural setting in North Norfolk. \n \nSome works have been created specifically for the space and some works are on tour from the hugely successful Raveningham Sculpture Trail which happens annually over the summer. \nVisitors to the site will be able to walk through 3 acres of grounds\, woodland and wild gardens to view the work of over 40 artists from across the UK. The circular trail ends in the fabulous Old Stables Decorative Antiques and Interiors shops with a pop up gallery featuring works by artists from the trail. Some works on the trail are available for sale or artists can be commissioned. Visitors can also visit the Natural Surroundings Wildflower Cafe with it’s beautiful plant nursery.

In 2024 the  line up included Dutty Moonshine\, Big Band\, Dreadzone\, Henge Mefisto\, Brass\, NoGood\, Boyo Onipa\, After Hours Plump\, DJ’s Bloodshake\, Chorus\, The Mighty Flux\, \n \n2024 also saw the Pirate Ship Mk II – a wooden replica of a pirate ship complete with smoke-firing canons\, sails and pyrotechnics that will make the DJ area go with a bang also within the Electronic Dance area is ‘The Outer Limits’\, a collection of space-themed sound systems with world class DJ’s. This immersive dance area was filled with detailed décor\, incl. a stainless steel life-size UFO as the DJ Stage. \nOn Sunday\, one of the stages has an Americana Theme hosting some of the countries leading performers of Country\, Blues\, Bluegrass and American Folk music. \nSome of the arenas at the festival include: \nMain Stage (in the Big Top) – Electro Swing\, Folk\, Funk\, Soul\, Reggae\, Rock and more\nJeremiah Marques Stage Eclectic music from around the globe\, demonstrations\, enlightening talks\,\ncomedy\, folk music and dance and host to the special Americana Day on Sunday 27 th Aug.\n‘The Outer Limits’ – Space-themed DJ dance tent (Electro\, Techno\, Trance) with amazing interior.\nMaui’s Robot (with articulated flame-throwing arms) – for the Section 63 outdoor DJ area\nFlavour Parlour Stage (from Glastonbury) – showcasing some of the best live music in the UK \nFoolhardy Circus Tent – with all weekend shows for kids and big kids!\nKat’s Kids Area – all weekend supervised activities for creative play \nThe Living Art Show – talented body artists and their models\, culminating with a not-to-be-missed body art parade on the main stage on Saturday. \nThe festival has a  kids area with a full weekend of free activities throughout the event\, including wacky racing\, craft sessions\, bouncy castles\, bubble craft\, storytelling and lots more\, with full supervision within the special children’s area. SUMMARY:Hunstanton Lawn Tennis Week 2025
DESCRIPTION:The 104th week-long Hunstanton Lawn Tennis Tournament commences on the 17th August 2025 and is said to be Britain’s largest event of its kind after Wimbledon\, taking place on 38 grass courts. Starting at the Hunstanton Recreation Ground on Sunday\, play will continue each day\, through to all the finals on Saturday. \n \n \nThe competition has attracted just short of 1\,000 individual players\, competing in 40 different events. This will be boosted by around another 150 juniors with the mini Gresham’s round-robin event for under-12s and under-10s commencing on the Wednesday. Hunstanton’s tournament has attracted players from eight-years-old through to some senior veterans\, with some competitors in their 80s\, from all over the country and also from abroad. The standard ranges from those entering their first competition to very good county players. South Wales-based Three Castles Cover has signed a three-year deal to support the tournament. \nEstablished in 1920\, the tournament takes place on 38 tennis courts on the towns recreation ground\, over seven days from Sunday20th to Saturday 26th August. The tennis tournament is open to players of all ages and ability from six-year olds to sixty-year olds. It is second only to Wimbledon in size\, attracting thousands of competitors every August. During his 30-year career\, he has enjoyed collaborating with many of the industry’s most prestigious artists and producers\, including Nitin Sawhney\, Maxi Priest\, Robert Miles\, Full Intention\, Take That\, D-Influence\, Octave One\, Soul II Soul\, Jamiroquai\, Nightmares On Wax\, Groove Armada and The Script. \n \nStephen has released three Classic Ibiza-inspired albums\, which you can stream on Spotify and all other music platforms. SUMMARY:The Blakeney Greasy Pole 2025
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Blakeney Sailing Regatta which runs over the whole weekend\, the greasy pole dates back well over a hundred years to 1873 when the prize for winning was a hog. \n \nBlakeney’s annual greasy pole challenge returns on the 30th July 2025. The day starts at 9am\, with tug of war as the tide comes in\, then swimming races\, then the greasy pole. This is then followed by rural sports day on  Saturday 2nd August at 1.45pm the gilly catching competition and then finally the sandcastle competition when the tide has gone out! Full day of family fun – all for free. \nFor the greasy pole\, competitors run or walk along a heavily-greased 30ft-long telegraph pole\, which is suspended over the seawater\, and try to reach its tip while still standing\, before plunging into the water at the pole’s far end. Anyone aged 12 or older was eligible to take part and some 50 men\, women and children had tackled the pole\, with about one in five successfully reaching the end on their feet. On Norfolk Day\, locals and tourists join in the celebrations of the land and its people. \n \nNorfolk Day turns Seven. \nSpearheaded by the Eastern Daily Press (EDP)\, Norwich Evening News\, and BBC Radio Norfolk\, the annual event celebrates all things great about our county. DESCRIPTION:Stephen Cox’s monumental sculptures\, imbued with mythic resonance\, will transform Houghton Hall this summer. \n \nHoughton Hall’s parklands and historic interiors will become a stage for Stephen Cox’s “Myth\,” a sweeping exhibition from May 4th to September 28th. \nThis unprecedented collection\, the culmination of 40 years of the acclaimed British sculptor’s global explorations\, will feature works inspired by India\, Egypt\, Italy\, and beyond. \n \nAround 20 monumental sculptures\, carved from marble and stone\, will punctuate the landscape\, while smaller\, more intimate pieces will resonate within the 18th-century State Rooms. The South wing gallery will offer insight into Cox’s creative process through works on paper\, alongside the arresting “Shrine” sculpture\, a highlight of the National Gallery’s “Encounters.” Stephen Cox\, a Royal Academician\, is renowned for his mastery of stone and his pioneering work with materials like Imperial Porphyry\, leaving an indelible mark on the world of contemporary sculpture.
