SUMMARY:Holt & Sheringham Norfolk 1940's Weekend 2026
DESCRIPTION:Held in conjunction with Sheringham 1940s Weekend\, the event celebrates the wartime efforts of allied forces and the remarkable resilience shown by those who dealt with the hardships on the home front. Expect the sights\, sounds and style of the ’40s in the town of Holt. \nOn Friday 18\, Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th 2026 this part of North Norfolk head back in time with a with lots of events ranging from military vehicle parades to pigeon racing. \n \nExperience the resilience and glamour of the wartime era at the Holt & Sheringham 1940s Weekend. One of the UK’s most popular heritage events\, this immersive festival transforms the towns of Holt and Sheringham—and the connecting North Norfolk Railway—into a living history museum. \nWhether you’re a history enthusiast\, a vintage fashion fan\, or looking for a nostalgic family day out\, join us as we celebrate the “Blitz Spirit” with live music\, classic vehicles\, and the unmistakable hiss of steam. \n \n\nWhat to Expect\n\n\nThe North Norfolk Railway: Travel between the two towns on authentic heritage steam trains. The stations are meticulously decorated to transport you straight back to the 1940s. \n\n\nVintage Atmosphere: Wander through streets filled with classic military vehicles\, civilian cars\, and historical re-enactors bringing the era to life. \n\n\nLive Entertainment: Dust off your dancing shoes for big band music\, tea dances\, and performances by 1940s-style crooners and starlets. \n\n\nPeriod Fashion: From Land Girls and RAF pilots to dapper civilians in trilbies\, the fashion is the star of the show. (Dressing up is highly encouraged!) \n\n\nLocal Markets & Food: Enjoy traditional rations (and some modern treats!) at local pubs\, cafés\, and stalls across both towns. \n\n\n\n“A truly unforgettable weekend where the community comes together to honour the past with style\, music\, and a lot of heart.” \n\n\nEvent at a Glance\n\n\n\nFeature\nDetails\n\n\n\n\nLocation\nSheringham\, Holt\, and the North Norfolk Railway (Poppy Line)\n\n\nTransport\nPark & Ride services are available; Steam trains run all day\n\n\nAttractions\nMilitary displays\, live music\, vintage markets\, and re-enactments\n\n\nVibe\nNostalgic\, community-focused\, and family-friendly\n\n\n\n\nFrequently Asked Questions (FAQ)\nDo I have to dress in 1940s attire? The events within the towns of Holt and Sheringham are generally free to access. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in most outdoor areas and on the heritage trains (subject to railway policy). Please be aware that the crowds can be very large and noisy\, which may be stressful for some pets. \nHow do I get between Holt and Sheringham? The most authentic way is via the North Norfolk Railway. Alternatively\, a shuttle bus service usually operates between Holt station and the town centre\, and there are local bus routes and parking facilities available. \nWhat happens if it rains? The “Blitz Spirit” means we carry on regardless! Many displays are outdoors\, so please dress for the British weather. There are plenty of indoor cafés\, pubs\, and station buildings to duck into if a shower passes through. \nIs there parking available? Parking in the town centres is extremely limited during the weekend. We strongly advise using the official Park & Ride services located on the outskirts of the towns to avoid congestion

SUMMARY:Hunstanton Lawn Tennis Week 2026
DESCRIPTION:The 105th week-long Hunstanton Lawn Tennis Tournament commences on the 16th August 2026 and is said to be Britain’s largest event of its kind after Wimbledon\, taking place on 38 grass courts. Starting at the Hunstanton Recreation Ground on Sunday\, play will continue each day\, through to all the finals on Saturday. \n \n \nThe Hunstanton Lawn Tennis Tournament 2026 stands as one of the UK’s most significant sporting traditions. Established in 1920\, this historic event is widely regarded as the largest grass-court tournament in Britain\, second only to Wimbledon in scale. Every August\, the town’s recreation ground is transformed into a massive tennis venue featuring 38 grass courts to accommodate thousands of visitors and competitors. \nThe 2026 competition has attracted nearly 1\,000 individual players competing across 40 different events. The atmosphere is further energized by an additional 150 junior players who participate in the Gresham’s mini round-robin. Designed for under-10s and under-12s\, this popular junior event begins on the Wednesday of tournament week\, fostering the next generation of tennis talent. \nDiversity of age and skill is a hallmark of the Hunstanton tournament. The event welcomes players ranging from eight-year-old beginners to veterans in their 80s. Competitors travel from across the country and even from abroad to participate. The standard of play is equally broad\, catering to those entering their very first competitive match as well as highly skilled county-level players. \nThe tournament continues to grow with the support of dedicated partners. Three Castles Cover\, a South Wales-based firm\, has signed a three-year deal to sponsor the event\, ensuring its stability and prestige for future seasons. This partnership highlights the tournament’s importance within the national tennis community and its appeal to sponsors outside of Norfolk. \nThe Hunstanton Tennis Week 2026 takes place over seven days\, running from Sunday\, August 16th to Saturday\, August 22nd. While the event celebrated its official centenary in 2022\, its legacy continues to draw massive crowds to the Norfolk coast. For those looking to compete in this year’s historic draw\, entries for the tournament officially close on July 1\, 2026.
