DESCRIPTION:Stephen Cox’s monumental sculptures\, imbued with mythic resonance\, will transform Houghton Hall this summer. \n \nHoughton Hall’s parklands and historic interiors will become a stage for Stephen Cox’s “Myth\,” a sweeping exhibition from May 4th to September 28th. \nThis unprecedented collection\, the culmination of 40 years of the acclaimed British sculptor’s global explorations\, will feature works inspired by India\, Egypt\, Italy\, and beyond. \n \nAround 20 monumental sculptures\, carved from marble and stone\, will punctuate the landscape\, while smaller\, more intimate pieces will resonate within the 18th-century State Rooms. The South wing gallery will offer insight into Cox’s creative process through works on paper\, alongside the arresting “Shrine” sculpture\, a highlight of the National Gallery’s “Encounters.” Stephen Cox\, a Royal Academician\, is renowned for his mastery of stone and his pioneering work with materials like Imperial Porphyry\, leaving an indelible mark on the world of contemporary sculpture.

DESCRIPTION:Norfolk Day is celebrated on July 27 and the day celebrates the great land of Norfolk. The history of this glorious county goes back hundreds of thousands of years. \n \nIt is believed that Norfolk has been inhabited ever since the land was discovered. This means that right now Norfolk is witness to more than 300\,000 years of human history! Its scenic beauty has made it one of the most beloved counties in England. On Norfolk Day\, locals and tourists join in the celebrations of the land and its people. \n \nNorfolk Day turns Seven. \nSpearheaded by the Eastern Daily Press (EDP)\, Norwich Evening News\, and BBC Radio Norfolk\, the annual event celebrates all things great about our county. This year sees the event – on  July 27 – celebrate its 7th birthday.  EDP deputy editor Ian Clarke said: “It’s great to be celebrating once more. SUMMARY:The Blakeney Greasy Pole 2025
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Blakeney Sailing Regatta which runs over the whole weekend\, the greasy pole dates back well over a hundred years to 1873 when the prize for winning was a hog. \n \nBlakeney’s annual greasy pole challenge returns on the 30th July 2025. The day starts at 9am\, with tug of war as the tide comes in\, then swimming races\, then the greasy pole. This is then followed by rural sports day on  Saturday 2nd August at 1.45pm the gilly catching competition and then finally the sandcastle competition when the tide has gone out! Full day of family fun – all for free. \nFor the greasy pole\, competitors run or walk along a heavily-greased 30ft-long telegraph pole\, which is suspended over the seawater\, and try to reach its tip while still standing\, before plunging into the water at the pole’s far end. Anyone aged 12 or older was eligible to take part and some 50 men\, women and children had tackled the pole\, with about one in five successfully reaching the end on their feet.
