Mark your calendars for November 22nd, 2025, and get ready to experience the enchantment of Wells Christmas Tide! This beloved annual event transforms the charming coastal town of Wells-next-the-Sea into a festive wonderland, offering a delightful mix of tradition, spectacle, and community spirit.
Here’s a glimpse of the festive fun:
- Illuminating the Town: Witness the magical dazzling Christmas lights, illuminating the town and harbor with festive cheer.
- Lantern Parade: Join the enchanting lantern parade as it winds its way through Staithe Street, culminating in a mesmerizing display on the quayside.
- Santa’s Grand Arrival: Cheer as Santa Claus arrives in style, sailing into the harbor from the “North Pole” on a festive boat.
- Fireworks Spectacular: Be awestruck by a breathtaking fireworks display that lights up the night sky over the marshes, creating a truly magical atmosphere.
- Visit Santa’s Grotto: Children (and the young at heart) can meet Santa Claus himself in his enchanting grotto at the Maltings.

2024 timings
4:45 – 5:00 PM: The town and harbour will sparkle as David Whiteley from ITV Anglia switches on the Christmas lights.
5:15 PM: A magical lantern parade will illuminate Staithe Street, leading down to the quayside in anticipation of Santa’s arrival.
5:45 PM: Watch as Santa arrives by boat from the “North Pole,” escorted by a flotilla of twinkling vessels.
Following Santa’s Arrival: Prepare to be amazed by a spectacular firework display over the marshes, painting the night sky with vibrant colors.
6:15 PM: Visit Santa in his grotto at the Maltings (don’t forget to book your tickets in advance!).
Important Notes:
- To ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment, large parts of Wells will be pedestrianised.
- If you’re traveling by car, please plan accordingly and allow extra time for parking.
