The Holt Christmas Lights is an event that really ushers in Christmas with a difference. Provisional dates for 2024 is Friday the 22nd November and commences at 5.30pm with the now legendary ‘Panto Race’. Now into its ninth year, this entertaining and hard fought contest takes place down the Holt high-street ahead of the official switch on.
Watch on as fifteen+ horses bolt it down the high street for the chance to grab the esteemed Sowerbys Cup. Competing ‘panto’ horses are a three-piece composition made up of two-part horse, one-part handler all sponsored by Holt traders.
At 7pm the lights are switched on with a fantastic firework display. A live band that takes centre stage through to the last encore at 9pm.

- Makers Market from 3pm
- Panto Horse Race 5.30pm
- Father Christmas Parade 6.30pm
- Switch on/fireworks 7pm
- Live music by the Austin Beats 7pm – 9pm
Live entertainment from The Austin Beats and Cromer Pier Christmas Show MC, Olly Day, street food, Adnams Bar, craft market traders, official switch on, Norwich City Pipers and a firework spectacular are all on offer.
